Lead creative strategy and usability design verticals. Staff visual design, UX, and UI positions. Create a design architecture and style guide that translates across a suite of web and mobile applications.
Creating four separate web tools isn’t easy, especially when the main stakeholders and users of the applications are unreachable through direct means. Efficient time allocation of your intermediaries and posing clear and concise questions is a must. Of the most importance is getting down to the core business problems, then understand how users are fulfilling those needs now. The best solutions lay buried somewhere in the middle, waiting to be uncovered through through iterative design and user testing.
Defining an initial framework helped the team understand that many of the designs could be reused and leveraged across different tool-sets. I lead design for module and modal attributes, typeface standards, and global navigation, this was critical to ensure a structured foundation.
Total contributions included the ideation of initial concepts then drafting into testable wireframes. Through multiple rounds of low-fi I created over 100 initial designs. These eventually led to me conductiing a week long usability study for end users - ensuring their ability to navigate the new system. I looked specifically at interaction methods and workflows that includeding sharing and exporting reports.
My work also included the lead final design of all core major screens. User interface design and site map structure of the entire system, while mentoring a junior designer to help in the asset creation, this project was huge and with a tight timeline. Siemens needed it online and turned around in less than 6 months. I worked tirelessly with PMs and developers to build, test, and validate the final designs and end product experience. Ensuring the product worked and looked as expected, as I had designed, and as the client requested.
Designing and executing the deployment for these web apps was hugely satisfying. Two of the applications help Siemens plan and manage executive's report-to structure and team hierarchy. The other two apps allow admins and senior level managers to edit, review, and plan monetary compensation packages for employees around the globe.
